Main Board

Shares listed on the Main Board are those of more established companies. These companies have at least five years of operating track record and a minimum 10% of issued and paid-up capital in the hands of at least 1000 shareholders.
The bulk of them satisfy the following condition before their shares are listed on SGX:
- Paid-up capital of at least S$15 million.
- Minimum pre-tax profit of at least S$1M for the last three years.
- Cumulative pre-tax profit of at least S$7.5M for the last three years.
The companies listed on the Main Board are classified into 10 industry groups and they are:
- Commerce
- Construction
- Finance
- Hotels/Restaurants
- Manufacturing
- Multi-Industry
- Properties
- Services
- Transport/Communication
- Others
Most companies on the Main Board are traded in Singapore dollars but there are some that are traded in foreign currencies like US Dollars, Hong Kong Dollars and Japanese Yen. Investors do take note of the currency that is used to trade such shares. By trading in such shares, investors are also exposed to currency exchange risk.
